It’s 4AM on a breezy Sunday morning at the Philsports Complex. The sun’s not even up yet, however, our biathletes are already pumped up and ready to go, getting their bodies marked for the race. Biathle 2018, one of your family’s favorite sprint events, is better and more exciting than ever as it is Powered by Fastrack. There were booths for our sponsors Neptune Actives, the official distributor of Funky Trunks, Funkita Swimwear, and Mobot, and Fastrack Courier Services, who gave away vouchers for all Biathle participants. There was also the Online Races booth which gave away freebies to all who registered for it. This year’s Biathle came back to the Philsports Arena, formerly Ultra, with a 50-meter pool and a run course with uphill and downhill sections, which did not faze our biathletes like Sonny Chua, who said, “The run route in [Philsports Arena] is amazing and very challenging because of the uphill area.” Additionally, according to Fastrack Standard Distance Overall Female First placer Kira Ellis, the course was “challenging, but mostly fun. The swim was nice, not so crowded, so it was lots of fun.”
A total of 183 participants, supported by their families and friends, completed the two distances sprint aquathlon; the Lite Distance with a 100m swim, sandwiched by two 750m runs and the Standard Distance with a 1.5Km run, followed by a 200m swim, finished off with another 1.5Km run. With these distances Biathle was designed to help athletes ease into multisport. For Alvin Labine, who was 2nd place in his age category in the standard distance, Biathle was the platform that launched him into becoming a triathlete. This is what keeps him and many others coming back every year.
After a day of family fun, not only were the podium winners per age category awarded, giveaways and special prizes from our sponsor, Anytime Fitness Araneta, also filled the awarding ceremony. The top three finishers were also announced as the, and along with this title, received trophies. Representatives from our sponsor, Ms. Mewa Martinez and Ms. Villa gave out the medals for out podium finishers and trophies and vouchers from Fastrack ranging 1,000-3,000 pesos worth of services for our Fastrack Overall Winners for the Lite Distance, namely, Matt Giancarlo Molino (1st), Reimar Comia (2nd), and Daniel Louw (3rd) for the male category, and Zuleikarich Monares (1st), Chantal Isabelle Calolot (2nd), and Reiodafel Grence Galera (3rd) for the female category and for the Standard Distance, namely, Jonathan Reyes (1st), Meynard Bautista (2nd), and Lorenzo Joaquin Solda (3rd) for the male category and Kira Ellis (1st), Mackenzie Bocauto (2nd), and Missy Hermione Bocauto (3rd).
